FBI Director Kash Patel revealed new evidence in the investigation into the assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, saying the accused killer left DNA at the murder scene and sent texts discussing his plan to “take out” Kirk.
In a Sept. 15 interview on “Fox & Friends,” Patel said federal agents matched 22-year-old Tyler Robinson’s DNA to a screwdriver found on a rooftop at Utah Valley University — where Kirk was shot Sept. 10 — and to a towel wrapped around the rifle used in the attack.

Patel said investigators also uncovered a text chain in which Robinson allegedly discussed his intent to “take out” Kirk. He said they also learned of a similar handwritten note that was written before the shooting. Patel summarized the note saying, “‘I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.’”

The bureau has interviewed Robinson’s live-in partner, whom Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said was in the process of “transitioning from male to female” and is “very cooperative,” CatholicVote reported.
The FBI director said agents are also examining a Discord chat involving more than 20members connected to Robinson, as well as cell phone data used to pinpoint his location and contacts leading up to the assassination.

According to The Washington Post, Robinson appeared to confess to friends in a Discord chat shortly before his arrest. The outlet said anonymous sources shared a message from an account linked to Robinson that read, “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all this.” The message was sent about two hours before officials said Robinson turned himself in.
The investigation has also expanded to determine whether any online groups knew in advance of Robinson’s plans, the New York Post reported. Law enforcement sources told the outlet that federal authorities are probing leftist networks, including communities on the online gaming platform Steam and a pro-trans organization called Armed Queers SLC, which reportedly deleted its Instagram account after Kirk’s death.
