Tuesday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time – Year A
Lord, show us your mercy and love.
First ReadingMicah 7:14-15, 18-20
Shepherd your people with your staff, the flock of your inheritance, who dwell alone in a forest in the midst of a garden land; let them feed in Bashan and Gilead as in the days of old. As in the days when you came out of the land of Egypt I will show them marvelous things.
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger for ever because he delights in mercy. He will again have compassion upon us, he will tread our iniquities under foot. You will cast all our a sins into the depths of the sea. You will show faithfulness to Jacob and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.
Responsorial PsalmPsalm 85:2-4, 5-6, 7-8
℟Lord, show us your mercy and love.
You forgave the iniquity of your people; you pardoned all their sin. You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger.
Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us!
℟Lord, show us your mercy and love.
Will you be angry with us for ever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
℟Lord, show us your mercy and love.
Show us your merciful love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.
Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints, to those who turn to him in their hearts.
℟Lord, show us your mercy and love.
AlleluiaJohn 14:23
℟Alleluia!
Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
℟Alleluia!
GospelMatthew 12:46-50
While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood outside,
ask ing to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brethren?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brethren! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother.”
