New legislation calls for Charlie Kirk to be depicted on US currency

Two Republican lawmakers have introduced a bill that would authorize the minting of 400,000 silver dollar coins featuring the image of Charlie Kirk, FOX News reported Sept. 24.

The proposal, brought forward by Reps. August Pfluger, R-Texas, and Abe Hamadeh, R-Ariz., seeks to memorialize Kirk through limited-edition legal tender bearing his likeness, full name, and the inscription “well done, good and faithful servant.” The year 2026, the motto of the U.S., and other official markings would also appear.

The final coin design would be selected by the Treasury Secretary, in consultation with President Donald Trump.

The text of the bill highlights Kirk’s advocacy for First Amendment freedoms, particularly on college campuses, where he encouraged “open debate and respectful disagreement” at a time when, the bill says, free speech was “imperiled.” It also points to Kirk and his wife Erika as examples who “inspired countless young Americans to value the institution of the family,” and describes Kirk as a loving father who “recognized and shared the importance of forming a family.”

The bill also calls him “a stalwart believer in American exceptionalism.”

“Charlie loved his country and had great faith in its potential,” the bill states, “encouraging his fellow citizens to honor their civic duty and participate fully in upholding their responsibilities as citizens.”

In public comments, both lawmakers praised Kirk’s influence among young conservatives and framed the proposal as a way to preserve his legacy for future generations.

Hamadeh described Kirk as an “American treasure” and referenced the long-standing practice of using commemorative coinage to honor historical figures.

“He tirelessly sacrificed his time, energy, and money to save this nation for future generations. Ultimately, at the hands of a radical leftist, he sacrificed his life,” Hamadeh told FOX News. “His life must be commemorated, and this coin will allow us to pass a reminder of his remarkable life on to generations to come."

Pfluger noted that Kirk, who was 31 at the time of his death, would be the youngest person ever featured on U.S. currency if the measure becomes law.

“Charlie Kirk was a conservative titan whose transformational impact on millions of Americans deserves permanent recognition alongside our nation's greatest leaders and influential figures,” Pfluger told FOX News.

This initiative follows a series of other proposals introduced in Congress since Kirk’s death, including establishing a national day of remembrance, award posthumous honors, and install a statue in the U.S. Capitol. A bipartisan resolution recognizing his life and condemning political violence was passed by the House last week.
