Our Sunday Visitor to end most print publications in response to ‘rapidly evolving media landscape'

Our Sunday Visitor (OSV) Inc., a Catholic publisher operating since 1912, announced Aug. 14 that it will end most of its print periodicals by the end of the year.
The decision includes the closure of Our Sunday Visitor magazine, OSV Kids, The Priest, and The Deacon.
The company cited changes in how audiences engage with media and content. According to the statement, the move reflects “part of a strategic shift in response to changing readership patterns and the rapidly evolving media landscape.”
Our Sunday Visitor magazine, introduced in 2024 to replace the publisher’s long-running weekly newspaper, will publish its final issue in October. OSV Kids will wrap with the September edition, the final issue of The Deacon will be its November/December edition, and The Priest will conclude with its December issue.
OSV News — a digital outlet launched in 2023 to succeed the US operations of Catholic News Service — will continue publishing. OSV will also continue to print the English-language edition of L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican’s official newspaper.
Company leaders said that OSV’s broader mission remains unchanged. CEO Kyle Hamilton said the transition will allow the organization to focus on news, books, parish materials, curriculum products, and “other initiatives that champion the Catholic Church for the glory of God and the salvation of souls in a rapidly changing world.”
