Rosie O’Donnell apologizes for falsely claiming Minneapolis shooter was ‘MAGA person’

Rosie O’Donnell, a comedian known for her outspoken liberal views and long-standing feud with President Donald Trump, has issued a public apology after wrongly identifying the Minneapolis school shooter as a “MAGA person.”

“I did not do my due diligence before I made that emotional statement, and I said things about the shooter that were incorrect,” she said in a video posted to social media Aug. 31, The Hill reported. “I assumed, like most shooters, they followed a standard MO and had standard, you know, feelings of… you know, NRA-loving kind of gun people.”

Robin Westman, a 23-year-old “transgender” biological male, opened fire during Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis Aug. 27, killing two children and injuring 18 others before dying by suicide.

FBI Director Kash Patel described the incident as a domestic terror attack driven by anti-Catholic ideology. Authorities also reported that one of the shooter’s weapons bore a threat against Trump.

The apology came days after O’Donnell posted a video in which she asserted, “What do you know? It was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person. What do you know? White supremacists.”

“[T]he truth is I messed up, and when you mess up, you fess up. I’m sorry. This is my apology video and I hope it’s enough,” O’Donnell concluded.

A long-time critic of Trump, the comedian previously left the US after his return to office, stating she would only consider returning when “it’s safe” and all citizens have “equal rights.”
