SBA Pro-Life America urges RFK Jr. to give abortion drug review update

Susan B. Anthony (SBA) Pro-Life America is calling on Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to update lawmakers and the public on his promised review of the chemical abortion drug mifepristone.

“Women and children are being harmed,” SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a Sept. 3 statement, “yet abortion drugs continue to be bought and sold with no commonsense safeguards and no accountability for the corporations and dealers who profit from them.”

Dannenfelser warned of an “epidemic of abuse that gets worse by the day,” pointing to recent cases in Illinois and Texas where women say partners secretly poisoned them with abortion pills.

She added that her group is “thankful that RFK Jr. promised to review the safety of dangerous abortion drugs” and looks forward to an update “after years of the Biden Administration ignoring this serious issue.”

Kennedy told senators Sept. 4 during a Senate hearing that the Food and Drug Administration’s review is “progressing apace,” citing conversations with FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, CatholicVote reported

Kennedy said new data, including an April study, is under review. As CatholicVote reported, the study revealed nearly 11% of women experience severe or life-threatening complications after an abortion — a rate that is 22 times higher than what the drug’s FDA-approved label states.
