POPE WEIGHS LAST ATTEMPT TO AVERT RIFT WITH SSPX
Pope Leo said yesterday he may still attempt once more to convince the leadership of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) to reverse course on the illicit episcopal ordinations that the Vatican has said would result in excommunication. “I am considering making another appeal and saying ‘don't do this, let's try to live the communion of the Church,’” he said. "But it is their choice.”
